Denmark is a country occupying the peninsula of Jutland, which extends northward from the centre of continental Western Europe, and an archipelago of more than 400 islands to the east of the peninsula.
The largest of the country's islands are Zealand, Vendsyssel-Thy, and Funen. The country's capital, Copenhagen, is located primarily on Zealand; the second largest city, Århus, is the major urban centre of Jutland.
There are many destinations in Denmark that are fun to visit, so these are some that I found myself wanting to travel to.
Kronborg Castle

Kronborg Castle has a storied location in Helsingor, set on a narrow promontory between the Danish and Swedish coasts. It was built in the 15th century as a tollhouse to collect fees from passing ships. A Renaissance masterpiece with fairy-tale spires, columns, towers and copper roofs, Kronborg is among the finest castles in Europe and was famously William Shakespeare's inspiration for Hamlet's castle, Elsinore.
Tivoli Gardens

Tivoli Gardens has enchanted its crowds of visitors since its opening day in 1843, an event attended by Hans Christian Andersen. During the summer season and on certain holidays, you can enjoy cultural activities and see ballet, orchestra and musical performances at the concert hall.
There's also a Ferris wheel, nostalgic carousel, dragon boat ride and one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the world. Visit Tivoli Gardens on a Saturday evening for a chance to see a fireworks display.
Øresund Bridge

The 10-mile-long Øresund Bridge is a modern landmark of multinational proportions that connects Denmark with Sweden. The two-level bridge runs from Copenhagen in Denmark to a man-made island, then through a tunnel to Malmö, Sweden.
Cars drive along the upper level, and the lower level is a railway. The bridge opened in 2000 and has become a symbol of a united region of Scandinavia, as well as an elegant engineering marvel.
National Aquarium Denmark, Den Blå Planet

Denmark boasts the largest aquarium in Northern Europe, the National Aquarium Denmark, Den Blå Planet, in a waterfront suburb of Copenhagen. Highlights are the Ocean Tank, the aquarium's biggest exhibit filled with rays, moray eels and hammerhead sharks; the kaleidoscopic coral reef; and the fluttering butterflies and birds of Amazonas, where a waterfall flows into a pool inhabited by thousands of piranhas and anacondas.
