Travel doesn’t need to be far
Flushing, New York

Queens is a familiar place for many of us. As I begin to explore the “world” with my friends I’ve discovered many hidden gems that are within walkable distance within this borough.

As hungry students rush out of the school, you will find a long line waiting to order from Nick’s food truck. Not only is the food affordable but it is also freshly made which adds to the deliciousness. My favorite is the chicken cutlet sandwich and the fries are definitely the most popular. The servings are pretty big so you can split with a friend for most of the items.

After school, cafes are popular places students go to do their homework or to study. While there are a lot of cafes in Queens, one of my favorites is Cafe Auburndale. This cafe has indoor and outdoor tables as well as different desserts such as shaved ice. Like most cafes, the items on the menu are on the pricier side but the shaved ice is fairly large and it's worth the price for the comfortable ambiance.

Prince Billiards has become one of my favorite places to go to have fun with my friends. The prices are fairly cheap and the atmosphere is really relaxed. They also sell drinks and some snacks in case you get hungry.
You don’t have to go far to hang out with your friends. There are plenty of things to do and a variety of foods to eat around us. Bayside, Fresh Meadows, and Flushing are enough to keep you entertained as we wait to become old enough to drive and travel even farther. Don’t forget to support your local businesses.
